LIPID MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL



To Lower Cholesterol:
 

  • Decrease intake of dairy products, including whole milk, butter, and egg yolks.
  • Diminish consumption of red meats, especially liver, sweet breads, and brain.
  • Diminish consumption of palm and coconut oils. Use fish and polyunsaturated vegetable oils.



To Lower Triglycerides:
 

  • Decrease caloric intake.
  • Decrease fat intake.
  • Decrease alcohol consumption.
  • Exercise!
  • Increase consumption of fish oils.



To Raise HDL Cholesterol:
 

  • Lose weight.
  • Exercise!
  • Stop smoking.
  • Mild consumption of alcohol is permitted.
  • Estrogen replacement therapy for post menopausal women.



To Lower LDL Cholesterol
 

  • Diminish saturated fats and cholesterol intake.
  • Increase the consumption of unsaturated fats.
  • Follow the protocol to lower cholesterol.

These dietary and way-of-life changes are long-term solutions. They, therefore, require a long-term commitment. Do not expect to see a change in your blood chemistries until at least 6 months have elapsed.
